AAPI Women Lead @ USOW2018

Updated: May 25, 2018

The AAPI Women Lead team had the honor of speaking with hundreds of participants at this year's United State of Women Summit in Los Angeles. In partnership with Transformative Research, we launched our community-based qualitative and quantitative #ImReady movement survey on AAPI Women and their experiences around #metoo and gender-based violence.

We received so much support and participation. We're still working the on data and so far it's shown (and a lot of already knew this from personal experiences and stories) that

that AAPI Women are no strangers to experiencing issues around #metooWe also learned that their AAPI friends and families are sharing the same experiences.

From our data we learned that:

Out of 48 of the AAPI women we spoke to 62% of them have experienced at least one form of gender-based violence. From the same group of women, 94% experienced sexual harassment, 68% experienced sexual assault, 39% experienced stalking and domestic abuse.

This is why raising visiblity is so important!

Thank you to all of the participants. We celebrate you for being part of this work! Your stories and your support is the driving force behind our mission.

We'll be providing informational visuals soon and an opportunity to take the survey soon!! Stay tuned for update.

Also, can we take a moment to celebrate that we got to meet Jeannie Mai, a Vietnamese American Emmy Award winner! And Kelly Marie Tran, the first woman of color in Star Wars!
